I joined the ODP mostly because I wanted to help some of the small sites in our very rural area get proper listings. Since joining I have gotten very much caught up in the project itself, and those original motives are but a dim memory. I believe whole-heartedly in the idea of a free and open directory, managed by real people. Now, I also have a deep appreciation the the dedicated folks that it takes to make it work. While I am affiliated with many sites, businesses, and organizations, I understand and agree that my responsibility to the ODP is to fairly evaluate each and every site and not just those that I'm affiliated with.
